1. History of Dept:- 1948- Affiliation for Economics (intermediate level) from the University of Calcutta
1949- Affiliation for Political Economy General Course (undergraduate level) from the University of Calcutta
1958- Affiliation for Honours in Political Economy (undergraduate level)
1960- Affiliation for Economics Honours and Economics Pass Course (undergraduate level)
Founder Principal Bijoy Krishna Bhattacharya was H.O.D till 1967.
2. Mission & Vision:-To Teach the students in such a way that they can work in a demanding and challenging environment where theoretical classroom knowledge can be applied to real life problems, and where their interpersonal skills are best utilized for the enrichment of the Society and thereby fostering their growth.

4. Departmental Infrastructure:- It has two rooms (One room with power point projector facility) ,one project room with two Desktops and one printer, Two laptops. The Department also has the departmental library
5. Future Plan:-
- To organize field tours for the students
- To upgrade the computer lab
- Bring out a departmental journal
