Dr. Bijoy Krishna Bhattachrya was a visionary who believed that empowering women with proper education will not only help them to find a place in this world but also help in building the nation. It is under his tutelage that the B. Ed section was opened in the year 1965. Considered to be the noblest profession, teaching has always been one of the most popular career choices among students especially the girl students.  It is teachers who alone can contribute and build a healthy academic system for a nation to grow. In order to become a teacher by profession in schools, one has to qualify the graduation degree followed by a mandatory course called Bachelor of Education. This teacher training course is meant to develop the teaching skills or rather the art of teaching, methods and practices for those who aspire to become school teachers . The curriculum of B.Ed course is designed in such a way to make the candidates acquainted with all the aspects that they will have to face in their profession. The teacher has to deal with classrooms of multilingual character with children from diverse socio-cultural, economic and linguistic background and varying levels of cognitive abilities. Thus, B.Ed candidates need to understand the process of learning or how learning occurs, create suitable or conducive environment for learning, be able to provide varied opportunities for the students to observe, experiment, reflect, and question.

Since 1965 the B.Ed. Department of the college has had very well qualified teaching staff and all other facilities needed to run the course smoothly under a composite college structure and has made its mark in the academia. On account of its remarkable reputation there has always been a tremendous demand for admission to this college. The students have also fared really well as is apparent from the University results over these years. This college has a proud history of girl students shinning in their career as well trained teachers and can boast of quite a few Head Mistresses of renowned schools with one who has received ; 'Dronacharya' accolade from the President of India.

The Department has always adhered to all the rules and regulation prescribed by NCTE since its inception and will keep on doing so in the coming future so as to maintain the high standard of quality teaching and wellness for its students.
