ABOUT THE JOURNAL

Bijoy Krishna Girls’ College, Howrah established in 1947 has been contributing to quality research in the fields of Humanities, Sciences, Commerce and Education through a very vibrant pool of its faculties for a long period of time. Research papers and articles authored by them have found recognition in various national and internally acclaimed journals and books. The objective to emancipate the girl students has found an avenue when these dynamic and industrious faculty members put their efforts together to motivate the students towards thought provoking research endeavours. With proper guidance and mentorship, the students from multiple disciplines have taken this step ahead towards a better scholastic future. In this context, a positive step has been taken by the R&D Cell of Bijoy Krishna Girls’ College, Howrah which was formed in 2018 by the Principal, Dr. Ruma Bhattacharyya, to assist the IQAC of the Institution to develop by and large a research friendly environment for the faculty members as well as students of the college. To inculcate the research culture among student communities the biannual multilingual multidisciplinary students’ journal “BKGC SCHOLAR” was introduced in January-June 2020, providing a platform to the young and budding UG and PG students to showcase their independent thinking in the form of research articles under the guidance of their faculty mentors. Here's a brief tour of what this journal has to offer. Students from various department has been given a platform for describing, narrating, explaining, classifying, comparing and contrasting, analyzing, solving problems, persuading, and so on. In getting this opportunity of going public with their writing by finding a medium and a genre, their sense of curiosity, metaphor, humor, and wonderment is actually enhanced in the presence of an audience. This no doubt has helped in improving their skill in how an idea can transform itself in the very process of being put into words and written down. Considering the fact that the college offers three disciplines and twenty-seven majors, it has been decided to select a few articles for each issue after having refereed by faculty members. The members of the Advisory Board also keep a keen eye on the quality parameter of the journal. The scholarly journal has achieved its goal to set the young minds free to create a new world of their own. BKGC Scholars is now ready to consider articles for review from scholars all over the world. Everyone especially students and young researchers can submit their article through the submission window of the website.
